Jayanth Bhuvaraghan was responsible for championing the company’s Mission of helping people “see more, be more and live life to its fullest”, a mission that drove the Group’s strategy to bring good vision to everyone everywhere in the world. A passionate believer in ‘business as a force for good’ and campaigner for greater eye health awareness, Jayanth’s professional purpose is to bring good vision to everyone everywhere – one which has been a huge part of his life and career since he joined Essilor in 1998 to open the India business.

He is particularly passionate about creating sustainable access to vision for the 2.7 billion who cannot see the world clearly – 90% of whom live in developing countries – through innovations, inclusive business, philanthropy, advocacy and awareness. Leading global teams, he works to achieve greater partnership and collaboration with governments, NGOs and the private sector to accelerate all actions to eliminate poor vision in a generation.

He was the Chairman of the Essilor Social Impact Funds, supporting projects creating sustainable social impact through vision care. He serves on the board of some of Essilor’s subsidiaries and many independent non-profits around the world, like the Vision Catalyst Fund, OneSight, EYElliance, Vision Impact Institute and India Vision Institute.

Through all these, his dream is to engage all the governments and stakeholders across the world and, together, work to eliminate one of the world’s largest disabilities - poor vision.
