Partners

The Vision Catalyst Fund has worked with donors, technical partners, implementing organisations and institutions across eye health, development finance and systems change.

These partnerships helped VCF test new financing models, support delivery, build evidence, and understand what is needed to move eye health from fragmented programmes into national planning and sustainable public investment.

As VCF enters its next phase, our partnership focus is shifting towards resource mobilisation, country-led financing, technical assistance and long-term systems change in eye health.

The organisations below reflect the partnerships and support that have helped build VCF’s platform, evidence base and delivery experience to date.

Founding partners

The Vision Catalyst Fund was created with the support of founding partners who recognised the need for a new way to finance eye health at scale.

Their support helped establish VCF as an independent, neutral platform focused on mobilising capital, building partnerships and accelerating sustainable access to eye care.

OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation

OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation has played an important role in VCF’s early work, supporting access to glasses and lenses through a landmark in-kind donation commitment.

Through this partnership, more than 2 million pairs of lenses and reading glasses have been granted across countries in Asia, Africa and South America.

This work helped VCF build practical experience in product donation, partner coordination, supply chains, reporting and delivery at scale. These lessons now inform VCF’s broader focus on sustainable, country-led eye health financing.

Standard Chartered Bank

Standard Chartered was one of the founding partners of the Vision Catalyst Fund, providing start-up capital for the fund’s inception phase.

The bank has a long history in eye health. Between 2003 and 2020, Standard Chartered raised more than USD104 million to tackle avoidable blindness and visual impairment, helping millions of people see the world again.

This legacy helped shape VCF’s understanding of the links between vision, economic inclusion, employment and human potential, which remain central to VCF’s case for investing in eye health.

EYElliance

VCF and EYElliance worked together to support the delivery of EssilorLuxottica’s landmark in-kind lens donation, helping children and adults in low- and middle-income countries access the glasses they need to see clearly.

Founded in 2015, EYElliance brought deep experience in systems-level change and scaling proven models of eyeglasses delivery.

This collaboration helped strengthen VCF’s learning around partner coordination, delivery models and systems change, which now informs our current focus on catalytic finance and sustainable eye health investment.
